Frequently Asked Questions

Mellwood is confusing, where are you located?

If you have parked in the Delmont Avenue parking lot (side street off Mellwood), you will walk across Delmont and through the open black gate underneath the Mellwood Art Center sign into the courtyard. Walk down the outside courtyard until you see me on the left across from Betty Blu’s Pottery and Imme and More! Let me know what you are by if you need help finding me!

Does Deep Tissue hurt?

The whole point of the massage isn’t for it to hurt. Each fiber of muscle needs different pressures or actions in order for it to feel better, so the entire massage may not be “deep”. That being said, there will be discomfort. I will be working into the deeper layers of the muscle and tissue in order to get to the source of your muscular pain. Generally, I tell my clients that if you cannot breath through it, we need to readjust. Most clients will feel a discomfort that is described as a “good pain” followed by relief.

For first-time massagers: What will the session look like?

You will need fill out your intake about medical history, injuries, surgeries, etc beforehand (sent via email a few days before). I’ll  take you back to the room where I will ask you about what brings you in, more about the pains you are having, if any particular actions/lifts cause them, etc. Once we are done with the intake, I will leave the room and you’ll get undressed to your comfort level (for most people that’s just their underwear). You will get onto the table and underneath the sheet and blanket. I will knock or have you tell me when you’re ready, and I’ll enter the room. From there, I’ll readjust the pillow or temperature on the table, if needed. Then, I will only uncover the portion of body I am working on such as back or right leg. When the time is up, I will leave the room, so you can get dressed privately. You’ll come out, pay, and reschedule!

Do you only work on athletes?

Nope! While I market generally to strength athletes, I work on anyone and everyone that wants pain management!

Do you do couples massages?

We can officially do couples massages, so long as two appointments at the same time are available! You will be in different rooms, but you will be receiving therapeutic massages at the same time!

What is Cupping and Rockblading?

Head on over to my “About” page to learn more!

Can I get massaged while pregnant?

Yes! The American Pregnancy Association agrees that massage can safely be done during all trimesters. I do prefer that I have been seeing you as a client for awhile before you are pregnant, but I will also take a doctor's approval if you are new. You can be face up and down as long as it is comfortable for you, and then we switch to laying on your side.

How are your hands so strong?

Heavy lifting and spite.

Will I be sore?

Every person is different. I have people who are not sore at all, some who have sore spots, and some who are sore all over. It honestly depends on your body. But overall it (generally) only lasts 1-2 days and you feel much better.

What if I have a gift card?

I have fixed the weirdness with my gift cards as of September 20, 2025. So if you bought a gift card before then, it is still valid, but you'll need to follow some instructions to use it.

First, you'll press the link under "Book an appointment". This will show you our availibility. Once you find a time/day that works for you, you can email, text, or DM us this information:

- The day and time that works based on our availiblity

- Length of massage (60min, 90min, 120min)

- Add-ons if wanted (i.e. scraping, cupping etc)

- Name, email, and phone number (if a new client)

Does Kiwi come in every time?

Not every single time, but 9/10 times he's there! If you do not like dogs, I'm sorry but he is a non-negotiable. He is extremely sweet, sleeps during the massage, and only requires a few butt or head pats to be happy. He also is a good reader of the room and will know to leave you alone if you so desire.

Are there times I should not come in?

- If you are sick or newly vaccinated, please do not come in. Not just for the sake of spreading it, but also because your immune system is hyped up. Massage therapy has a tendency of increasing immune system activity, so you will generally just feel sick or more sick after a massage. So just stay home and rest like your body is telling you to do ;). Please TRY to give me 24 hours notice so I can try to schedule another client.

- Don't try to come in within 24-48 hours of a car accident or bad injury. We need to let the body settle and know if there are any unseen injuries before working on you.

- If you have uncontrolled low/high blood pressure. Massage, especially deep tissue, can make blood pressure swing, making for equilibrium issues. Get it managed and then come in!

-We cannot work on actively inflamed areas that are tangibly hot or sore. There's many reasons to this, but overall a terrible idea to work on.

- Lastly, but a throw back to the sick rule, don't come in if you are having an autoimmune flare. Again, your immune system is in overdrive and we will only make it worse with a massage. Wait until it settles down and then come on in.

PolIcies

Rescheduling/Cancelling

We prefer that you reschedule through the website, but understand it may be easier in instances to text/call. We have a 24 hour policy for cancellations/rescheduling, so please get a hold of us before then or you may be subject to a cancellation charge of 50% of the appointment amount. If you have paid for the full massage and have to cancel within 24 hours of your massage, we will refund you the tip and half of the massage. If you have paid 50% as a returning client, we will not refund you. If you have not paid either as you were scheduled by a therapist, you may be subject to a 50% charge before you can schedule again.

We understand emergencies happen, and a therapist will try to work with you.

Lateness

We generally have a client after you, so we can only go until the end of your scheduled time. There may be times where there is not a client after you and we can make up the time, but we leave that up to the discretion of the therapist. So we recommend trying to be there 5-10 minutes early.

Sexual Advances

We have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with any sexual services.  We have the right to terminate any session that may even suggest sexual advances. We will still charge you, ban you from our establishment, and then leave it up the therapist on whether or not they will press charges. It is not worth it to even try, so don't.
